Pets are my PASSION! Just ask Thor, my Rottweiler. Years ago I got a scary call while on vacation that made me realize asking friends or family to care for my pets was not the best answer. That was the start of my dream - to provide the most personalized, professional pet care for all pets, large and small, here in the New River Valley.
My background includes a B.S. degree in Animal Science from Virginia Tech, over 30 years caring for all types of pets, 28 years working with the largest pet products manufacturer in the world, and establishing an animal rescue in Giles County that played a major role in the county building a new shelter.
I see your pets as an extension of our families and want you to consider us a resource for training, health, behavior and other pet topics . Therefore, we are always striving to be current on all things pet so that you know we are the best choice for pet sitting in the NRV.
Meet Jordan Kelley, our first hire! Born and raised in Arizona, she moved here in 2016. Jordan is a barn manager at White Horse Farm, pet care associate at Petsmart, and a student at Radford University. She brings her love of all animals and knowledge of a wide variety of pets to New River Valley Pet Sitting & Farm Services, LLC. Jordan has an Arabian/Mustang horse named Jethro and a red-tailed boa constrictor named Toothless. Recently, she added an adorable puppy, Jorah, part Australian Shepherd, part Chocolate Labrador to her family. Jordan completed her training with us back in March but has continued to take courses on dog, cat and bird care as well as Covid-19 safety. She is also a Certified Equine Massage Therapist!
Originally from New Jersey, Elissa came to Blacksburg to pursue a degree in Animal Science from Virginia Tech. More importantly, she wanted to be a Hokie! A junior now, she has had experience working with animals of all types through internships at a local animal clinic and volunteering at her hometown's animal shelter.
Elissa attended a vocational high school where she was able to get plenty of hands on experience with a variety of pets. She says that one day she'd love to specialize in exotic animals, possibly as a veterinarian!
