Why Pet Owners in Blacksburg Choose Us

Local roots, real credentials. Our owner is a Virginia Tech alumna with a B.S. in Animal Science. A Hokie through and through, and someone who’s spent years putting that education to work caring for pets across the New River Valley.

Built for busy Blacksburg households. This is a university town, and our clients reflect it. Professors, teachers, physicians, and corporate professionals are juggling labs, classrooms, clinics, and full calendars. Many need reliable midday visits while they’re at work, or daily check-ins while travelling. The last thing you should worry about is whether your dog got walked.

Consistent care, every visit. A proven process means your pet gets the same, attentive routine each visit. We show up when we say we will, follow your instructions, and treat your pets like family. Because to us, they are.

What your Blacksburg Neighbors are saying..

“We’ve been using NRV Pet Sitting since we moved to Blacksburg 5 years ago. They have been wonderful to work with and we always feel comfortable leaving our cats to their trusting care. We have had older cats who required medication and special care and they always do such a great job and make sure we come home to healthy, happy cats! The sitters are all wonderful! They are experienced, kind, reliable and loving to our pets. I highly recommend Barbara and her team!!”

– M. O’Connor, Blacksburg

“I cannot say it enough—best care, nicest qualified sitters, best organization in every way. They help you when you need them and they communicate well so that you always know how things are going when you’re away. Love these folks!!!”

– Janet R., Blacksburg

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you walk dogs year-round in Blacksburg?

Yes. Blacksburg’s climate is generally temperate, with spring and fall offering some of the best walking weather in Virginia. We continue full service through summer and winter, adjusting walk length and route during extreme conditions to keep your dog safe and comfortable.

What about January and February when it gets cold and windy?

We don’t cancel for cold weather, but we do use good judgment. On the coldest, windiest days, we may shorten outdoor time and prioritize potty breaks plus indoor enrichment over a long walk. We always communicate with you if conditions affect a visit and we will put sweaters or coats on dogs during Jan and Feb if requested.

Do you serve homes near Virginia Tech campus?

Yes. We cover all the major neighborhoods surrounding VT, including Downtown, Hethwood, Tom’s Creek, and beyond.

Can you do midday visits for busy professionals?

Absolutely! Midday dog walks and check-ins are one of our most popular services. Many of our regulars are VT faculty, teachers, and medical professionals who book recurring midday visits while they’re at work.

How do I get started?

Every new client starts with a meet-and-greet ($20) so we can get to know your pets and your routine before the first visit. Fill out the inquiry form or call 540-235-6974.
